2005-10-20 [metalmeister]: Just wanted to say something about the motorcycle story... it's lame because anyone who rides knows you check your brakes before you start the engine. also, if it were me, i'd never let a passenger on without their own helmet. (but in many states, there's no helmet law) also, you CAN hear people with the helmets on, even going 90mph. my dad and i both ride LOUD harleys, and still communicate. also, the guy in this story must not have known about ENGINE BRAKING. yes, if he down shifted, he could drop to 30mph . and, there are 2 separate brakes on a motorcycle, like a bicycle. right hand controls front brake, right foot controls rear brake. highly unlikely for both to go out at the same time
